Magick Wand #1

  • A sturdy twig, not cut from a living tree, about 16 “ to 20” long.
  • The twig should have one branching end, and one smooth end and must be found by the person whose wand it will be.
  • Colored strips of cloth, raffia, string
  • Glue, paint brush or Q-tips
  • Sparkle, acrylic paint, powdered tempera paint, colored sand, feathers, small and large beads, etc.
  • Boat lacquer or bar top finish (optional)
Wand

Dip unbranched end of twig 4” into the glue. Wrap cloth strips tightly around gluey end to make a soft handle. Paint the rest of the twig, including the branched ends, with glue and paint, and sprinkle with sparkle, powdered tempera and/or sand. Let dry.

Glue on beads everywhere except on the handle. You can string small glass beads and wind the string up the shaft of the wand. This looks GREAT! If you coat the whole thing except the handle with lacquer or polyester resin, and don’t use it to hit things with, it will last.

Magick Wand #2

This one is cool and easy.

  • Lily of the Nile (Allium Grande) flower stalk, dried after blooming
  • Silver or gold paint
  • Glue and glitter
  • Beads or small shells

If the pods are still on the flower spray, you can leave them or remove them. It’s important, however, to not break the flower stems. They are stronger than they look. Cut the bottom of the stem to the length you want the wand to be. Spray or paint the whole thing with metallic paint. Glue beads or shells onto the tips of the flower stems. I use crazy glue gel because it dried so fast and you don’t have the beads slipping down the stems. Even still, they look good whether they slide down, or stay at the tips. These also make really nice Yule tree decorations.
