Faerie tree

To create a Faerie Tree

Find a tree where two or more main trunks have wound together to make a lovers’ knot. This type of tree seems to draw faeries more than any other. The kind of tree doesn’t seem to be nearly as important as the shape.

Decorate the tree with shiny things, strings of plastic beads, baubles, costume jewelry. Start leaving a small dish of cream and a couple of oatmeal cookies wedged in crooks of branches. If they like what you leave, they will finish it. If not, expect to find the whole mess on the ground. If they are really feeling nasty, watch your back when you walk away.

Faeries are not angels. They are not necessarily cute and sweet. Do not expect Faeries to be either grateful or nice. It took us years to get ours to stop being downright nasty. They seem to be very tolerant of children and dogs, love bees and hummingbirds, but don’t seem to like cats or most adults of either sex. What they will do is take very good care of the area under their tree. You will find wonderful surprises growing there.

Don’t go out under the tree alone at night.
